Kentucky Bank Tennis Championships Opens Play on Saturday

Tournament to be held July 28-Aug. 5 in Lexington


LEXINGTON, Ky. – The 2018 Kentucky Bank Tennis Championships will commence on Saturday morning at the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Center in Lexington with the qualification draw. 30 players will be fighting for four spots in the main draw, with play starting at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday.


Admission for Saturday and Sunday’s qualifying matches will be free for all patrons in attendance.


The action kicks off at 10 a.m. ET with all four courts in action, headlined by [WC] Noah Tapp (USA) facing off against Ronnie Schneider (USA) on the main court. Also in the 10:00 a.m. window is Borna Gojo (CRO) vs. John McNally (USA), Thales Turini (BRZ) vs. Emil Reinberg (USA) and then Evan Zhu (USA) vs. Francesco Ferrari (ITA).


Kentucky Wildcat, Enzo Wallert (FRA) will be in action on Saturday on the second show court at the Boone Tennis Complex against Jorge Montero (CHI) in the second-on window.


Former Kentucky All-American Jesse Witten will once again be competing in the draw, as he will be third on court one against N. Vijay Sundar Prashanth (IND) in a match to be on court one – the main show court.


Current Kentucky player Austin Hussey (USA) will headline the two matches fourth on in the Saturday order of play, as he’ll face [WC] Alex Kobelt (USA) on court one. In the other fourth on match, Kento Takeuchi (JPN) vs. Ruan Roelofse (RSA).

Lexington Challenger Tennis Charity, Inc.  ((LCTCI a 501(c)3) dba)) Kentucky Bank Tennis Championships was organized in 2012 by a core group of conscience minded citizens with the purpose to raise charitable funds to benefit the local and state community. The idea initiated with the opportunity to generate money through a key event that came available- the Kentucky Bank Tennis Championships, a USTA Pro Circuit Tennis Tournament for Men and Women.  This event along with many other fundraising throughout the year will provide the resources to disperse funds to other charities in the community that operate with like-minded missions.
