Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Center to host Lexington Challenger

LEXINGTON, Kentucky, July 22, 2016 – The United States Tennis Association announced on Friday night the qualifying draw for the 2016 Kentucky Bank Tennis Championships, with five University of Kentucky former or current players slated to take the court on Saturday afternoon at the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Center in Lexington.

UK alum Jesse Witten (USA), along with current players Beck Pennington (USA), Enzo Wallert (USA), Austin Hussey (USA), Trey Yates (USA) and Nils Ellefsen (NOR) will all be in action on Saturday afternoon at the Boone Tennis Center.

Witten, Pennington and Hussey will all be the first matches on court Saturday at 10 a.m. ET with Witten and Pennington playing in the stadium courts and Hussey on court three. Wallart will face Dean O’Brien (RSA) second in the stadium courts with Yates opposing fifth-seeded Nicolaas Scholtz (RSA) third on court in the stadium not beginning before 12:30 p.m. ET.

The top seed in qualifying draw is Japan’s Yasutaka Uchiyama (JPN), who is 23 years old and currently ranked No. 292 in the world. Uchiyama will be third on court Saturday afternoon facing wild card Alex Gornet (USA) on court three no earlier than 12:30 p.m. ET.

The No. 2 overall seed in the qualifying draw is Lloyd Glasspool (GBR) who is ranked No. 227 in the ATP rankings currently, and will be last on court in the stadium’s second court Saturday afternoon against Jeremy Efferding (USA).

All of the 32 qualifiers will be looking to secure a spot in the main draw of the Kentucky Bank Classic, which is set to begin on Monday afternoon in Lexington. Tickets to the event are available at lexingtonchallenger.com online or on-site the day of the matches throughout the week. All of Saturday and Sunday’s qualifying draw matches are free of charge to the public.
